Marguerite fancies herself as a soprano. With a surplus of money and a shortage of talent, she buys her way into the spotlight, exposing the hypocrisy of her social circle. She restricts her concerts to a by-invitation only audience of sycophantic acquaintances who tell her she is great to her face, nobody having the courage to tell her the truth, in a sort of modern day case of the ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’.
